First Dabble....

Normally don't do a lot of photo shooting, but right now I am taking quick class in digital photography in school. I took these yesterday and was playing around with them today. I have never done the "grunge" technique before so it's a little rough around the edges (no pun).

Looks great!

I especially like the last one. Care to give a brief description of your process for the "grunge"?

Thanks,

In addition to overlays with some grunge brushes, I blew out one layer with a very grainy glow and then used a low opacity layers to bring detail back in. A little gradient map in multiply mode allows me to bring highlights out using a layer mask.

I think those pictures would be better with some color treatment and contrast tweaking in certain areas instead of the grunge look. The grunge look is getting to be way overdone and often obscures what would otherwise be a nice piece.

Your composition and lighting are pretty damn solid, there's no need to slap on the scratches and whatnot.

Hey
When I got to the 3rd picture I knew exactly where you were.
Nice pictures. I was down at Belle Isle a few weeks ago shooting some stuff. Great place to shoot historical stuff. Part of Cold mountain was shot on that Island and the footbridge on the south side of the island was used in the movie "Hannibal". You can see the girl jogging on the bridge I believe in the beginning of the movie.

Hear ya loud and clear. Thanks for the input!

The first pic almost has the look of a publicity shot. That's my favorite of the bunch, but I LOVE the long shadows and crooked frame of the last. Maybe the last one is the best. Hard call.
