firewire to av cable?

You mean a cable that accepts firewire on one end and puts out video on another? Sure but it has a DV deck or camera dongle you need to make it work.

If its simply DV/DVCPRO footage... you can use either a canopus or sony media converter box. They will translate firewire video/audio data into S-Video or Composite to view on a Tube or LCD monitor. HD is a different monster. Matrox has a $1000 box that will show your HD footage (720 & 1080) full-screen on separate DVI LCD Monitor. You have to check their site for hardware compatibility.

I'm using a black magic intensity pro capture card that runs $379 or something new, that's going from my mac pro to an SD monitor, it can downconvert on the fly to play HD @ 480i on my monitor as well.

Can the INTENSITY CARD handle 24pn footage? Or does it have to be 29.97?

For instance, can you see footage shot in 720/24pn on a SD monitor? I'm not writing about 720/24p.

yeah I haven't had a problem with it. I only have 2 4GB P2s so I do almost all my shooting at 720p/24PN, but it works because it downconverts to 480i to play it. I don't have an HD monitor so I don't know what it's like outputting HD.

Let me get this straight. The Intensity Pro can playback all forms of video (HD and SD) on a 480i compatible monitor using one of the connections from its breakout cable, but will not playback anything in 24pn using the HDMI output.
