firewire support jack?

I've searched all over and can't seem to find this, but awhile ago someone around here invented a device that ads support to the firewire port by combining the firewire and 1/8th audio jack with a rubber square dealio. Can someone direct me to this guys web page or thread here at dvxuser. Thanks

Just my 2 cents - the FirewireSaver that Siniarch made is worth every penny, and then some. Very simple idea that helps me sleep better at night.

I would highly recommend it to everyone shooting with the HVX

sweet thanks so much guys.....good work siniarch the firewire port is such a pain in the !@$), I'm always worrying I'm gonna fry the thing when it pops out on a shoot (dvRack) and I don't have time to power down then power up.

Hey I bought one of these, the price has gone up, not too much 25.00 now. It does seem to help but I'm still have problems it can't fix. I've been trying to make some money shooting rock bands. But the vibrations seem to cause the little pins that make the connection, come apart then back together. So my footage then looks awful and is unusable. There's breaks in the video but it never stops recording, like if the cable came out or the connection was bad, then you get nothing recorded. It all looks good on the LCD screen, no way to know it's bad till you play it back then it's too late. Anyhow I think we AG-HVX200 users need to make our voices heard! Several times now I've called Panasonic and talked to various people that agree it's not the best design. But say they've not heard of any problems with the 4 pin connection! "There's not a service bulletin out about it" is was they say. We need to get a petition started or something to show them. Today I told someone @ Panasonic about the many people complaining on various forums about the 4 pin troubles. He said oh we've got people that monitor those forums we'd know about it. He mentioned this one by name. I told him about firestore.ning.com. I have a FS and that's the only reason I use that 4 pin connection. Now here's the real kicker this fall their coming out with a new camera that is the same, but has no tape recorded and will have a 6 pin connection on it! So they must know what a pain this is and should change our cameras over to 6 pin connectors. They could do it if they wanted to. I can't use my FS-100 for what is the best way for me to make money right now. I don' have any P2 cards and can't afford all the extra stuff I'd need with them. That's why I bought a FS-100! So we need make our voices heard!

Hey Luis,
Have you ever thought of embedding a 6 pin to 4 pin adapter into the FSSaver. This way you could use a standard 6-6 cable for plugging and unplugging and the FSSaver could be attached to the camera more permanently/securely.

BTW just ordered one of these from you the other day. When can I expect it? :-)

I thought of it, but then realized that'd make things worse as it would be sticking out and add more weight to the whole area. (Of the connection) Then things would be all wobbly & you'd have two connections to worry about. Maybe if you could fuse the adapter to the cam? Then there's warranty concerns and what about stuff like... When I've shot some rock bands, the little wires inside the connection vibrate so much that it breaks the connection intermittently, causing breaks in the footage every 30 seconds or so. The best thing is to replace the 4 pin with the 6 pin inside the camera by Panasonic! They've got a new cam coming out in the fall, same as the 200 but no tape and a 6 pin instead of a 4 pin connector.

DLS,
Thanks for your business. I have thought of it, but the 4pin to 6pin converter is much bigger and would add weight and size to the whole thing. I will leave things as they are.

Randy,
you know, we are all upset with the 4 pin connection, but I think you've made your point. No need to doube or tripple post. as per my response on the other thread, its probably more the hard drive vibration than the firewire connection.
