Firewire port problem

I am using PV-DV102 as a deck for my DVX, but the firewire port on it does not seem to work.
It used to work, but I once put the other end that goes to computer backwards.
Meaning I sort of forced it in because the port was not visible to me, I thought it was the right way.
Anyhow, after that happened, the firewire on my PVDV102 does not work.
Same port on my DVX works fine, but I might have screwed the other one up.
Anyone can help me out here?
I bought PVDV102 to be used as a deck, but it's no good anymore. :(
They will probably charge me a lot if I were to get it fixed.
Help!

A 6-pin port on the computer? If so, you definitely fried your camera's port. Reversing the plug would put power right across the TPA data lines. :(

You try Panasonic for a repair. But a DV102? Ask for an estimate of the repair cost. It could very well be close to buying a new camera.

If it's not worth the money to get it fixed, and you know a electronics freak, they might be able to fix it. It should only be a chip that needs replacing.
