Firewire Hub

I am wondering If I need to buy a firewire hub. I edit on a 15in Powerbook G4. I am using a 250GB external Lacie drive. The computer only has one firewire connection. I run that out to my drive and connect my camera into the drive. Should I be able to hook my NTSC monitor via the S-Video output of my camera? It is not showing up. Do I have to buy a hub? I am fairly new to a mac, my old system was a Media 100.

Your camera's S-video output has nothing to do with a hub -- verify that it works when it's not connected to the computer, and fidget with the output options on your camera.

For what it's worth, I have the exact same setup: an external FireWire drive with a DV camera chained to it on a PowerBook G4 15", and it works for me. (And I have a piece of crap camera, too.) I'd suggest double-checking your camera's settings.
