Firewire Help??????

Ok so my computer didnt have a firewire port so i had to go buy a chip and stuff to get a firewire port so i finaly i get it all finshed installed in my computer but then i go to my SONY vegas 8.0 and go to capture and it cant fine my device i dont know what to do can you help me out????

None at all.but like i checked the device and it says that its like connected fine but then it leads me to belive that its the wire??

What exactly do you mean by "buy a chip and stuff"? Didn't you just buy a firewire card and install it straight into the PC?

Does the firewire card show up in Device Manager?

Yes it does..thats why i think it is the cord???and ya i instaled the card into my PC

what operating system do you have?

Plug the camera in and turn it on after you start your computer and the operating system has loaded, then start vegas, see if that helps.
