Firewire HD For DVX-A/B

[arekdv]

What would be the best firewire harddrive to purchase when recording straight through to firewire?

Is the DVX a or b capable of doing that or is it just the HVX?

To do disk based recording on any DVX model you need a laptop running DV Rack software.

So you cannot film straight to a firewire hd from the DVX models, but you can with the HVX?

No camera in the world can film straight into a firewire hard disk.

You can connect that hard disk to a computer, and then use the computer to capture the footage straight to a hard disk, yes. But you can't just plug a hard disk into a camera and expect it to record, it doesn't work that way.

Unless you're using a special-purpose dedicated hard disk recording unit such as a FireStore, of course.

You dont need to run DVRack, although it does have great options. Just about any NLE will let you do live capture.
