firewire connections issues

I made a post about this already and its fairly urgent. Has anyone had isues connecting with Vegas 5.0 capture not detecting the camera?

I get "Could not connect to Microsoft DV Camera and VCR" and the preview is turned off and doesnt function.

Any ideas please?

I've tried my firewire port, a firewire card, two different Panasonic cameras and nothing.

Re: firewire connections issues

thanks for the help..I just tried that app. It detects it using the MS driver, however it captures the audio...but no video.

yeah see thats the strange thing..it does detect it, everytime. I've narrowed it down to the previews that are failing for some reason.

I tried a few other apps, that do detect the camera, however the preview doesnt function...even the Windows Movie Maker app or the video app in control panel...the preview pane fails completely.

Re: firewire connections issues

You may well have a firewire problem, then, either in your camera or in your computer. Try different pors in your computer, and if they're all the same, the camera may be the problem spot.

Do you happen to have a second DV camera to test?

Also, try uninstalling your 1394 drivers in Control Panel, then telling Windows to search for new hardware. See if that clears it up. Leave your cam connected while you do this.

Dave,

Thanks for the ideas, I know its not the camers though. Neither of them work. They are detected, in both windows and any apps, however no previews work, for whatever reason. They will also capture, but not video.

I've tried the onboard firewire port and a seperate firewire card...

Im beginning to think it's a Windows/driver issue as Spot stated

Re: firewire connections issues

It might also be the DirectX itself. I had a similar problem when going from DX 8.1 to DX 9.0. Reinstalling DirectX 9 did the trick. Just a thought.
