Firewire connection dongle

I recall someone posting a solution to the problem of always having to re-connect a Firewire cable causing wear and tear on the camera's connector port, and they came up with a permanent connection dongle whereby the stress would be applied to the connector piece (which was only a few incches long).

Haven't gotten the camera yet, so what do I need to build something similar, aside from a 3-4 inch firewire cable? Where can I get the adapter which will mate the 2 cables?
 
short cable dangling from the dvx sounds like a pain in the butt.

the real answer to this problem is don't use your dvx for transfers. buy a cheap dv cam for this task. you wouldn't deliver pizza in a ferrari. you would buy a toyota and save the ferrari for the weekend......
