FireWire Card

Okay, I'm completely new at this. I am only 16 and I want to get more into filmmaking so I'm buying a dvx100 and a new computer system for editing/ post production, etc. I have heard that I need to put a firewire card on my computer so I can dump all my stuff down to my harddrive. Is this correct? If I DO need a firewire card, which one should I get? I need the model number, the company who makes it, and who I should buy it from. Also, is there anyother hardware/extras that I will need to buy for my computer or dvx100 besides the obvious (tripods, extra batteries, etc.)? Thanks for the help.

Check first if your PC have a firewireconnection. If not you have to bye a firewirecard , its enough with 400Mb.
Dont forget to bye a UV-filter to proteckt the lens

How about this one:

SIIG (NN8US212) Serial Adapter :
Upgrade to the latest in high-speed connectivity technology with FireWire 800 & Hi-Speed USB 2.0 with one card! Adds 3 FireWire (2 FireWire 800/1 FireWire 400) & 5 Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports. Works with all FireWire (800 & 400) and USB (2.0 & 1.1) devices including DV camcorders, digital cameras, hard drives, printers, scanners, and more.

That is the description of one. Will that be a good one? Thanks for the help
