I've been reading on various threads that you can blow your firewire(DV) port if you hot swap the firewire cable or plug it in while the computer and/or camera is on.
My situation: When I try to capture my firewire is being recognized by the computer and it will even play for a while in the Log and Capture on FCP, but all of a sudden the communication is gone between the camera and the computer during capture. Does this mean my firewire cable is bad or my port is blown? I'm guessing it is the cable, but I want to be sure. If anybody knows, let me know.
