Firestore to P2?

Is it possible to playback footage off the firestore and record it to p2? Or downconvert to mini dv?

Also the ftg was 24 pn so it has no audio on playback - will this effect it?

Is there another workaround to salvage this footage? Can it be imported thru log and capture to final cut?

Trying to help out a friend! I swear! I really only use the p2 cards to record to.

Yes. Put the HVX in MCR mode and turn off the thumbnails; when you can see the firestore footage playing on the LCD, press the gray and red RECORD buttons together.

No. That can only be done from a P2 card.

Yes; you won't get that audio because the FireStore doesn't play it. You'd have to import the footage from the FireStore in order to get the audio.

Yes it can be imported through Log & Capture, but again the silly firestore limitation of not playing 24pN audio means that again, you won't have that audio. You need to do a log & transfer off the FireStore in order to get the audio.

Thanks so much, Barry! It worked like a charm. Also on a unrelated note I solved the problem by running repair disk then repair clip on each clip. Even works on Quicktime PN that repair clip. In the future I will be advising said friend to only shoot to 16gb p2 and use the firestore only as a last resort. Or at least have an AC check the ftg!
