firestore fs-100 import

how do i import my p2 files into fcp from an fs-100? i'm recording 1080 24p in p2 format on my fs-100. then i copy all contents over to my raid. then i select import p2 option in fcp but all files are greyed out and nothing imports. i get the "selected path does not contain a p2 volume" message.

i watched a p2 file import tutorial but that seemed to only be about the actual p2 card. there was only one contents folder and one last clip file. my firestore creates a bunch of empty folders, one folder with content and one last clip file.

does firestore's p2 format look the exact same to my mac as an actual p2 card with data on it?

anybody successfully imported to fcp using fs-100?

in the firestore instruction book on page 91ish it will tell you.
after you shoot the media you need to organize the P2 data, and organize the real data. then when you hook up to the computer you have to select it on the firestore in the hdd menu... pretty shure thats what its called, i dont have it in front of me at the moment, but if you check the book you got with the fs100 it says exactly how to do it. its a lil confussing at first but once you figure out the work flow its great, verrrry fast.

Mr Letter Boxed..

I'm having issues with my import as well. Camera set in 720/24p. Copy all files to raid. I converted them with the Panasonic Frame Rate converter to 23.98 but when I imported the new files into FCP it wants to render them. I've been editing for 27 years but this one has me a bit confused. Any thoughts? The Focus info doesn't really get in to thios stuff.

Many thanks,

i was missing the little mention on page 63 about "organize p2" that you're supposed to do after capturing to firestore but before importing to fcp. now i'm able to import and edit.

next trick is the variable frame rates. i shot at 60 fps but it imports it looking normal speed. do i need to download a plug-in to convert the frame rates?

when you say "frame rate converter", are you talking about that plug-in download from the panny site? is that what you need for fcp to recognize variable speeds because i can't get it to see different frame rates that i've shot?

THANK YOU wigby. I was about to throw my precious-long-awaited FS-100 against the wall. The Page 63 thing (which seems like a crazy extra step to me!) was a life saver.
