Firestore Final Cut Question

I downloaded the new Focus Enhancments white paper on the FS100 and the Final Cut 5.1.1. workflow. It states that there is a 1080P/24 Easy Setup. I cannot find such a thing. Shoot begins tomorrow afternoon and need to find the answer asap.

I believe the only way to use 1080/24p in FCP is to shoot in 24p advanced and let FCP remove advanced pulldown (or use Cinema Tools). Set up a 1920x1080 sequence in FCP with editing timebase of 23.98

Or use the Frame Rate Converter (best method) in the Tools menu. Comes in the Extras folder in the 5.1 install disk.

But you'd Set up a Sequence in in Sequence Settings set the frame size properly, Aspect Ratio properly, then Editing Time Base to 29.97. You'll then be able to set Feild Dominance to "None", presto, 30p Timeline! You'll notice that the QuickTime Video Settings will say DVCPRO HD 1080i60. But if you hit the Advanced button, it'll be 29.97. You can even go into your prefs and create an Easy Setup for just about any format the HVX200 will record.

Then you're editing in 1080p30.
 
The paper also says you can't do 1080p30 in FCP, and I just did it. So, Focus is sort of struggling with their Mac info. Really disappoints me they don't just get someone EXPERIENCED with the camera, the FS-100, AND a ligitimate authority on FCP (like a certified trainer who uses this set up on a daily basis, like me).

The paper is pretty good, but a few things are wrong. Don't know why Focus is so Mac ignorant, or can't find anyone who knows enough about it to properly write their stuff.
 
Thought the paper was flawed. Thanks all for input. Deerp in the thick of it now at 720p24. Hope the 1080/24p workflow shakes out soon. Always want it to look better!

the focus website is a horrific pile of dung! as is most of their documentation.

there simply is not enough info there to start with, what is there is hard to find and it doesnt subscribe to the common guidelines of internet navigation. if you ask me it was designed by a print designer...
 
Hey Ben B ....have not begun to tackle the post production issues but would appreciate your thoughts regarding some of the recording /playback issues vis a vie the FS100 and HVX200...Firestore claims that you can symultanousely record in hd and record to tape (sd) . No such luck so far...also useing a Marshall v-r70p-hda monitor great for monitoring live via component cable supplied with camera...but no playback useing FS100 through the camera ,only works with a s video cable.. any thoughts or comments.... VL
