Firefox users- New version has major bugs

I tried to post this warning on DVinfo, and it was yanked quickly. I was told it wasn't important to that community, so I'll find another.

I had just installed version 1.5.0.6, and was greeted by a screen saying "We know you want the Google Toolbar...", which had option boxes for Enhanced Safety and Page ranking. Firefox not only kept popping this screen up left and right, but two at a time, everytime I opened the browser. it was impossible to close the screen without going into the Program manager. Don't install this version with the Google toolbar, unless you like errors.

I'm running 1.5.0.6 without any problems at all.
Same here, Horse. I wonder if that's because we were upgraded automatically, and Captain installed the new version fresh.

Also, isn't it possible to right click on the toolbar area and uncheck the offending toolbar?

I just kept getting that same opening screen, over, and over. I try to close it, and had no luck. I finally gave up and went back to... IE. Go figure I'm the only one with the bugs. I beginning to think Murphy isn't just following me, but we are conjoined twins.

I had just put in a new HD, and reinstalled Win2k on my wifes PC. Being a Firefox fan, I installed the new version fresh. That is when I was overwhelmed by the pop up screen. I checked the options I wanted, and it just kept coming back. I started to post the problem at their website, but didn't feel like signing up to yet another forum.

The problem is win2crap.:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) I have 1.5.0.6 on XP pro and have zero problems with it.

(ps not really sure if win2crap is the actual problem but it is a suck os anyways, XP pro all the way)

I really liked Win2k, and only just moved up to XP on my PC. I also really like Firefox, and never had any major issues with it. Until now. I even tried reinstalling it, and it got worse.

Bottom line is, I just like to share info. If I can warn somebody about a potential issue, I'll do it, trying to save them a potential headache.

Works fine for me. Has been for the past two years.

Has anyone else DL'd the 'actions' plug-in? Where you hold the right-click button and do little motions that open windows or close them or open home pages?

You get so used to doing it that you start doing it in other windows; it's great.

My favorite feature of the working version, has got to be highlighting text, right clicking it, and search the web.

Yeah, there's a couple of them, but I use the "mouse gestures 1.2" (not sure of the version). If I ever use another browser, there I am right-clicking and gesturing, to no avail. Definitely a must-have extension. FF rules.

One caveat to FF, though, is its liberal use of memory. Open up 5 or 6 tabs and then check your Task Manager. Firefox is currently using 113 MB RAM on my machine. But knowing the folks on this website, shouldn't be too much of a problem. I don't think anybody here has less than a gig of RAM installed, running NLEs and such. :)

1.5.0.6 here on XP pro...months of use -- I don't remember exactly when I rec'd the update-- months ago, I think. No issues here. HijackThis might help get rid of your spurious toolbar problems. Capt. Quirk...in the name of programmers everywhere...please report this bug to the programmers as FlintMI suggested, not the world, at least not until you've asked the world if they've had the same problem. Because of software installations and removals, I doubt any two computers are identical after a month of use...that makes quirky (pardon the pun) occurences like this almost certain to happen somewhere, to somebody, in any widely used program.
