Firefox add-ons

These are my fav add-ons for firefox that make browsing so much better.

This blocks banner adds and stuff. Makes a lot of pages load much faster. Just subscribe to one of the free adblock thingies and your good to go. This is my most fav.

This is like a virtual hard drive on gmail.

This allows you to hover over a link and it will pop up the page in a preview to see if you really want to click through.

All the extensions.

I like "plain" Adblock https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/
and also Flashblock https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/433/.
I recognize that if we don't view some ads, then much of the "free" content will eventually dry up -- but perhaps there are enough IE users without Adblock that no one will notice the Firefox users blocking ads.
Anyway -- Flashblock blocks the most annoying ads and lets you play what flash you want, or okay flash from particular sites.

My favorite Firefox widget isn't even a plug-in, though. If you clear cookies, then go 'round to the places you want cookies kept for (like DVXuser) then close Firefox, restart and tell it to trash all cookies on closing, then it keeps the useful cookies and routinely dumps the ones needed only temporarily or are used for tracking.

My fave is easily Linkification. Its great for forum archives and other message boards that dont support clickable links in them.

It turns any url thats typed out and not linked into a link, meaning no more copy paste for urls into the address bar.

My Favourites:

Addblock
Filterset.G Auto Updater (huge list of adds to block for Addblock)
DownloadThemAll! (A download accelerator and manager, perfect for downloading films during the fests. Takes about 3 clicks to download all of them.)
FoxyTunes (control your media player from within Firefox)
IEView (send those stubborn pages that don't display correctly to IE)
Unplug (Download embedded flash video)

Here's what I have installed at work:

CHM reader - great for reading ebooks...

FlashGot - prbably similar to DownloadThemAll as fixitinpost mentioned

IE Tab - probably similar to IEView

LiveHTTPHeaders - so you can view the actual headers that go back and forth between FF and a web server

Mouse Gestures - Couldn't live without this one... :)

Tab Mix Plus - lots of tab stuff

ViewSourceWith - you can view a web page with a different editor. I use VIM with windows, which is a vi clone. This lets me view source of a page with VIM. You can also right click an image and do 'view source with' and chose an image viewer/editor. I do this with IrfanView or Photoshop.

Web Developer - Lots of stuff that is useful if you're a developer. Too much to list here.

And, although not a plugin, this program lets you mute any audio that originates from either Firefox or IE. Great if you have to work on a page that has audio and you don't want it to interfere with your mp3s, for example. The name of the program is FlashMute - http://www.indev.no

What's up with Mozilla? Everytime I try to view things on my new laptop it tells me I need plug-ins. But it won't tell me which plug-ins or how to install/ fix them.
Can someone please help me?

Thats weird, I never get that. Maybe you need flash player and the newest Java.

Thats odd. I get that too when I attempt to use EXPLORER instead of FIREFOX. And I've downloaded everything in the universe to fix it but, alas, I still have the same problem.
