Fire Rages Through B&H's Warehouse!!

Feb. 24, 2005

"There were tough conditions for the crews still here working on the fire that reached four alarms this afternoon. More than 140 firefighters and 40 pieces of equipment were on the scene.

The good news: There was only one minor injury reported as of news time, though property damage will be high, no doubt."

Save the progressive-scan cameras and children first!

I just got a shipment from that very building yesterday - very sad to see B&H having that kind of trouble.

Hope no one got hurt!

Man, has anyone been there? It's a MAZE...like the 1980's stock exchange for A/V equipment. Conveyor belts tickers....it's crazy. And everything clicked into place when I went there and saw that 90% of the employees were Chasidic Jews (i hope I'm right about that). That only matters becaue one of my main motives was the find out why on EARTH they're never open on Saturdays or during Passover. It was so funny...I just walked in, and was like..."Ooohhhhh...I get it." REALLY REALLY cool place. Too bad about the fire.

edit: Once I tried to order something online during passover and had the darndest time with the website.

Jewish Fires Or Jewish clearence sales? cant remember what the joke it, but yes that sucks. Hope the only thing they lots was the backstock of Hi-8 equipment.

And yes the store kicks ass... so efficent, and they have almost everything there. Its kinda like the walmart of AV. I kinda like being able walk into a store like EVS though and talk to someone without needing to take a number or feeling like im wasting thier time.

:'(

Picked up my DVX there two years ago. It's like witnessing the destruction of the hospital where your first child was born.

Damn. Insurance or no, I doubt they will ever regain everything that was lost. Our thoughts are with them.

Re: Fire Rages Through B&H's Warehouse!!

I bought photography equipments and now video equipments for more than 15 years at B&H, always had perfect services and shippings. Bad news.
