Finishing 24p Project. Codec and Export Question

Basically just finished a music video shot in 24p and edited in premiere with 24 timeline. Looks great on the comp, yet horrible when i exported to dvd and watched on a TV screen. I have a few questions and any help will be greatly appreciated!

1. First being when I try to export to DVD, it will not allow me to change the mpeg-2 codec, and I know i have more then one.

2. The video footage looked like it wasnt 24p anymore. The settings i had used where bringing it back 30 fps. What should it be encoded at? 30 or 24 fps for the DVD.

3. What is the best codec for DVD with premiere.

Thnk You!

DVD's need mpeg-2 that is the standard format used for dvd and need to be burned that way to work on a dvd player. If you see other options for mpeg-2 they are probably just limitation options so that you cant go under or over the bitrate for dvd specifications. No matter simply go to file export with adobe media encoder and on the top choose mpeg-2 - dvd for format. Under the bitrate settings and all of that you can choose constant bitrate and variable (for best results and longer encoding time choose the two pass varibale and never set the highest bitrate above 8 even though it is physically possible. if you were worried that your 24p fotage is looking like 30p or 60i most likely the reason is that your n frames are set to 15 make sure your m frames are set to 3 and the n frames are set to 12 (half of 24). Also make sure if you shot in 24p advanced rather than 24p normal
