Finished video what else can I do?

I just finished a "documentary" type video about an island called Guam. I am going to begin selling it soon locally. I am wondering about selling it to a distribution company.

Distributors won't care if they don't have good reason to. Try to get recognition in festivals if you can, or otherwise get the word out. Make sure that when a potential buyer types your name into Google they get a decent turnout. Know your market more specifically, and which distributors tend to appeal to them. That will help you strategically choose festival markets and the like.

Distribution companies don't buy stacks of DVDs from production companies and place them in retail ... they buy the rights to duplicate and distribute the film.
