Finding Panasonic parts???

I lost the plastic/rubber cover on the HVX that protects the sd card slot and iris/zoom remote inputs.

I called Panasonic. After getting 5 different phone numbers, broken promises of calls back, and generally HORRIBLE customer service, I finally found someone who could give me the part number.

I then called back the "ordering department" to find out that this part is no longer being made. Did they stop making the HVX? If not, how can they quit making parts for current models?

Panasonic has proved to be a HUGE disappointment and I feel they treat their customers very poorly.

Bitching over, does anyone know where I can find this cover, part number VJF1541.

An internet search pulled up 2 different companies with this part listed, but both have since informed me that they are "out of stock". Since Panasonic is no longer making them, I assume they will not be getting any more in.

thanks,

THCK

Since they are still making the camera, they must still be making parts for them, or have a stockpile of the parts. Have you tried contacting Spec-Comm? They are very responsive and stock many of the parts for the camera.

I didn't see anything on their website but, after seeing their posts on this board, I have e-mailed them to see if they have it.

I agree, I would think they they would have a stockpile, but they tell me they don't and the online retailers that they recommended to me say they don't have them either. It's a conundrum.

May be

May be

It looks like that is the part I'm looking for.

It's so hard to be sure since, firstly, Panasonic doesn't make a schematic of the parts available and secondly, after a very detailed description was given to a Panasonic employee in the Technical Support department (1-800-524-1448 option 3), he told me it was the number I stated earlier.

Thank you for the info and I will pursue that route.

It's just frustrating when the people that work for Panasonic, even in tech support, can give a simple straight and correct answer.

Sigh.

I'm pretty sure the part number I gave you is correct. The Panasonic Parts Store lets you search by part number or description, and VJF1544 is the part number for the SD card cover. The number you had isn't even a part for the HVX, and it might explain why you can't find it and why it may have been discontinued. If the part number turns out to be the wrong one, I will personally refund you the price of the cover and shipping/handling.

If you still have reservations that the part number may be wrong, contact Andrew Hoffman at Spec-Comm, he'll be able to give you a definitive answer.

Looks like THoff's customer service is better than Panny's.
You're a stellar person, THoff, thanks for all your help in these forums.

No one at Spec-Comm responded to my parts request.

I received the part in the mail today from Panasonic. It is called "SD cap", but it is actually the headphone jack cap.

So now they tell me that they "think" they know the correct part and will get me the new $55 part is 3-4 weeks.

Hello Hardcore,

I just checked with the parts folks and they never got a request in. We have had some strange things happening with e-mail. Oh well. I think I have the information that you need.

The part that you're looking for is VJF1541. It is $6.86 and is on a 4 week back order. Let me know if you would like to place an order.

Panasonic, after looking into it again, gave me the number VGP6163. Then I called the ordering department and they told me that that part number has been changed to VYK1U97.

I'm so surprised that Panasonic doesn't equip their sales people with a schematic so that I can just describe the part and have them match it.

Anyhow, what I'm looking for is the large squarish rubber cover that goes over the iris and zoom remote controls. It also covers the SD card slot.

As stated above, the SD cap I received from them is actually the headphone jack cap.

Please let me know if you have a picture of the part numbers I was given and/or the part number you have, to see if we're on the same page.

If you look in the pdf of the manual, page 14, you'll see that it is the cover that goes over items 6 and 7. ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/pub/Panasonic/Drivers/PBTS/manuals/OM_AG-HVX200.pdf

thanks for the assistance

Hello Hardcore,

Here is a pdf of our service manual exploded veiw.

http://www.spec-comm.com/client/HVX200_FCPA2.pdf

The part that you are describing seems to be part 61. Please confirm. If that is the case, my previous post is accurate.

Andrew,

Thanks. This is great that you have this diagram. However, I must admit that I myself can't make it out too well (not good at reading schematics, that is). I think I described it well enough in my previous post and, if you've seen the manual pdf and say that that part is 61, I'll take your word for it.

I really appreciate your follow up on this. I used the search box on your site and didn't get any results.

Please let me know how I can order this. If I don't hear back from you first, I'll try the 800 number in the morning.

Thanks again!

Sounds good Hardcore,

Please speak with Emily and tell her the part number that you would like.

She will take care of everything else.
