Finding film/video/commerical contest listings.

I am on the constant prowl for any kind of Commerical Contests. These can be Corporate (Such as the recent Sam Adams one) or Public Service Announcements such as the MediaLiquid PSA.

The problem I am finding is that I find out about them "Too little too Late".

[glow=red,1,300]Anyone know of a resource that gives one advance notice? [/glow] I would love to start busting out some Commercials.

Great post John... I can't think of any off the top of my head, but maybe someone else?

Depends on what you want to win. KFC had a contest, Vegas had a contest, but there aren't that many of those around.

There are hundreds of ongoing awards competitions however. The Clio's are the "academy award" of the commercial world. You have to be pretty sure you'll win though, the entry fee is like $350.

The regional chapters of the NATAS sponsor Emmy awards, and this year commercials were eligible in my chapter, don't know about others. The Telly awards are pretty big, and you can get an award for practically anything from the Houston Worldfest. Then there's the Summit Creative awards, the Auroras, the Omnis, lots and lots of 'em.

just for tax reference... are entry fees considered a business expense? ;)

Sure they are. And, with a lot of these competitions, the entry fee is relatively low, but if you win a top prize, they'll bill you if you want a statue. The statue fee can be $100-$150 or so (also deductible, but consult your tax advisor blah blah).

A statue? As in a little dude?

As in a small trophy. The Emmy is, well, it's an Emmy, you've seen those on TV, only difference is, the Regional Emmy has a square base, the National Emmy has a round base. The Cindy is a plaque with a winged angel-looking person holding a torch. The Telly is made by the same group that makes the Oscar and Emmy, it looks sort of like an Oscar, but it has wings. The Summit is nothing like a person, it's a clear acrylic wave-looking thing. The EMA is an acrylic obelisk. I don't know what the others look like, those are the only ones I have (so far).
