Finding composer

I'm having difficulty finding a composer to redo a Bernard Hermann piece. It's the 2 minute dream sequence from Vertigo and I had a couple local composers present pieces not quite up to par. The problem is the stuff I get back is ill timed and real synthy sounding. Of course the clincher is I don't have a budget. It is for my film Insectula at www.Insectula.com. Anyone with ideas or people I could get in touch with would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Boulder,

I don't have an answer for you, but was wondering (perhaps naively)-- how hard or expensive is it to use 2 min from the Vertigo soundtrack? I'm just wondering if anyone has actually pursued a sync request from a big label (Varese Sarabande in this case, I think) and what they found out.
