finding 7 projects

just downloaded x but when i go to open a 7 project the icon is blank white and fails.

am fine with future projects on x. but was under the impression you could go back and
still work on old projects in 7. any help or thread directions appreciated.

Are you running FCPX when you try and open FCP7?

When you install FCPX all of the FCStudio apps get placed inside an "FCStudio" folder in the applications folder.
Maybe during this move the relation for FCP7 and the icon/files became broken.

How are you trying to open you FCP7 projects? Clicking on the FCP icon in the dock, launcher, Double clicking .fcp project files??

I installed FCPX on day1 (Doomsday) on the same computer/drive as FCP7 and I haven't had any problems running both (although not at the same time)

However I did have to remove my FCP7 icon from the dock and then put it back because it would initially launch X. I was thinking during the move it attached itself to FCPX somehow.

Based on your description so far and of what I understand it seems you're computer is no longer seeing FCP7 as an installed application hence the blank white project files, perhaps a FCP7/Studio reinstall is in order.

fcp7, compressor and motion moved to a new folder named final cut studio found in the applications. once i opened the old program the icons came back. expect some transitional issues but when they made the 7toX app available it was time. Thanks for your help. appreciate it!
