Finally, I have a website. Any comments?

So,

I've been putting off building a website for years, finally forced myself to do it. Still no reel, but this is a start, at least now I can send prospective clients something besides an email link. Anyway, if anyone has any comments I'd love to hear em. I know i broke the rule by having it 1024x768, but i figured since it's a video thing it wouldn't be a big issue. I'm going to monitor the res of my visitors for the first few months and see if that's too big.

I think font and pictures could be smaller, but otherwise straight and to the point, which is good.

And maybe export those jpeg as progressing, because text loads first while the image is downloading and it's like you don't see anything

Progressive jpegs appear instantly and download progressivley with passes.

Oh- I've got something that no one else has mentioned- the font is a lil big. :)

Seriously, could that have been repeated any more?

Aside, nice website. Like the look of it.

I love the background photographs, but it looks a bit unpolished as it stands right now...Other than that its a nice concept

If this site is garnered towards prospective clients, I would adhear to the same dimensions most big sites(like isara.com) use... being the 760 width or whatever number it is.

The computer I am currently on has to scroll both vertical and (the dreaded) horizontal - though the horizontal scroll is slight.

I dig the simple yet effective design, and the pictures are excellent!

Nice images. Screen size is too big. Even though you design at 1024x768 in reality it doesn't show at that size and it just gets cut off. I'm on a 14" laptop with a screen res of 1024x768 yet I have to scroll to navigate to your other pages. I shouldn't have to do that. I want to see the image. It's cool! Navigating to the About page I want to automatically click on the "Contact Colin McAuliffe Here" but it is not a mailto link nor does it go to the CONTACT page. Then I have to scroll down just to find I have to click the BACK button to go back to the front to scroll down again to click on the next link. Why not just put those same links on every page on your site? You don't have many pages and it is just a matter of copy and paste of the code.

Your RESUME page is great. You offer both Word and PDF versions of your resume. Some people offer neither or just a html version that when they print it to show to a possible employer has unnecessary background photos and underlined links that are BLUE!

Really nice site, simple design. I like that a lot but the sizing is a little irritating for people with small screens and navigation could be applied better.

cheers!

I didnt realize the 'Contact here' link was dead. Thanks for the heads up. Originally that was going to be a Mail to link, but now I'm thinking it might be better to just link it to the contact page, what do you think?

Yeah make it link to the Contact page. More consistent that way.

I agree with the font. Also if you could put either a black outerglow or drop shadow on the font that would help.

In order to do that, the text would have to be an image. Right now it's just regular text.
