Finally got my DVX

Hey guys,

Finally I got my DVX102BEN. I've been roaming aroud the forum for quite some time now, but now I have the DVX sitting next to me, i'm enjoying myself even better :) . Got my cam through Ebay, and I have to say it all worked out great. I know it's a grey market cam, but when the price is 2000 Euro's ( about 2500 dollars) less, then i'm willing to take the chance...

What do you guys think is the best way to get some test footage? Just go out and film stuff, and see if it works out, or go through all the settings before shooting? And what to shoot? I'm in the boring Netherlands, and I dont want the first thing my dear camera sees is a bunch of crackheads smoking pot...

haha, could do that... may take a while, and if, by any chance in the coming week you watch CNN and see the following headline: Dutch student killed while trying to make home-porn movie by filming Amsterdam hookers.
Then you know its me :)
 
Better play it safe, then. Maybe just get some shots of that little boy who goes around giving lesbians the finger.

Go over all settings. Then ask a friend to be your "model". (Buy them lunch.) You want to see how light falls on a face; indoor, outdoor, ambient light, controlled light, etc. Adjust your Scene Files for different looks.
