Don't confuse Chevy and Chrysler... they are NOT close in quality comparison. When I said it was a no-brainer I guess I should have added... "chevy".

I have two older brothers, both of which had Grand Cherokee SUVs... one brother replaced his with a Durango... ended up saying "never again with this brand"... the other brother just loved the Grand Cherokee design and replaced one with another... problems with both, but didn't care because he liked the look... bought a Ram for our business. Total POS. Amazingly enough bought a new Ram last year... guess what? Total POS. The thing's been in for service 3 times now and they can never find the problem.

BTW the first brother I mentioned has had two Tahoes also... in the last 12 years! He JUST replaced his first one with a new one. Never any problems... ever. Amazing power in both.

I would say get the 300 and be chillin like a villian.
You want to look like a soccer mom or a cool film makers wife? eh?
The new version has a new edge and kind of looks like a 4 door mustang.

There's so much cross-ownership in autos right now -- Ford owns lincoln, mercury, jaguar, and some ownership interest in some other english brands I can't think of right offhand, and had some sort of partnership deal with Mazda; GM owns buick, chevy, GMC, Saturn, Cadillac, (the now defunct) Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and has ownership interest in Kia, and partnerships with Toyota and Isuzu and Opel; Honda owns Acura and also sold a rebadged Isuzu under the Honda name... the GM Saturn Vue uses a Honda engine. Dodge sold rebadged Mitsubishis for years and years (the Colt and the Stealth, etc). GM sold rebadged Isuzus and Suzukis and I'm not sure who makes the Aveo for them, I think it might be Kia.

My "japanese" Honda was built by US workers in Tennessee. My "american" Mercury was built by Mexican workers in Mexico. Lots of GM cars are built in Canada, etc.

So it's really tough to keep track of who's what. But there's never been a relationship between General Motors and Chrysler, as far as I know. Chrysler is a division of Mercedes now (although they termed it a "merger of equals", it's clear that there's a reason that DaimlerChrysler has the "Daimler" first!)

GM: Also owns Saab. And I believe they have a controlling interest in Maserati.

Volkswagen and Audi are the same company (and their cars share chassis and bodies, like the Ford, GM, and Chrysler divisions do).

Chrysler owned Lamborghini at one point; not sure if that ended before or after the Benz merger.

BMW owns Rolls Royce (which also produces the Bentley).

GM and Chrysler were definitely never related.

Definitely an interesting evolution in that industry.

All of the nameplates under GM -- with the exception of Saturn and GMC -- were once independent companies which were eventually acquired by/merged into General Motors.

Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury -- as well as Chrysler, Dodge, and the now-defunct Plymouth -- all came together similarly.

By contrast, Honda, Toyota, and Nissan all knew they weren't going to make it in the luxury car market under their own brand names, so they invented Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti, respectively.

Similarly, GM went after a particular market with the original Saturn, and it knew none of its current brands could make it, so it invented a new one.

I really wish DeLorean was still around...

That car is so awesome! I used to want one so bad but I heard its an expensive car to fix since all the parts are from Europe or some where.

i was watching I Love the 80s on VH1 and they did a spot on DeLorean. the cars sales sky rocketed after DeLorean himself went to jail for a cocaine bust worth $24 million.

If you get a Honda and want to be sure of it's origin look at the VIN... If it starts with J then it was made in Japan.

Okay people, the votes are in and it looks like we are going with the Towhee. I mean, Tahoe (inside birder joke).

Dallas and I want to thank all of your for your expert opinions, sometimes not so practical advice and your humor.

Anyone know where the Stickypod is going to fit on a Tahoe?

We'll post pictures when we motor into our driveway :)

DeLoreans were heavy and slow compared to every other sports car in it's price range. That stainless body didn't help matters.

If you really want one you can get one at Fast Lane Cars in Saint Charles, Missouri for around $15K used. They had TWO at one time... and one of 'em was nearly mint for $20K.

If you really want one then watch the papers in any major city... they pop up from time to time.

Congrats on the Tahoe.

Yeah dako... this is a (sing) "we got icecream and you didn't get any because your father's an alcoholic and you're poor"... thread. (for you uncool dopes that was Eddie Murphy)

Tell you what... just so you can feel like your input really DOES make a difference... I promise I will honor your choice on my next QT purchase:

1) Chocolate Longjohn w/ Hazelnut Coffee

2) 32 ounce Diet Coke w/ Chick-o-Stick

3) 2 Plain Cake Donuts w/ Mix of Ameretto and Columbian Supremo

Please help me decide!

Well, number 3 is in the lead then! I'll be sure to post pics.

BTW a "long john" is a longer, rectangular donut, sometimes filled with Boston Creme (custard) and often topped with a cheap, sugary, chocolate icing.

A Chick-o-Stick is basically a butterfinger w/o any chocolate on the outside... if you were from the hood you'd have already known that.
