Final format for HD?

I've noticed more and more people boasting shooting with/owning HD cameras. Something of which i'd like to do myself in the near future.

However, i'm just wondering what the final output of those of you who shoot on HD are? Do you burn to a Blu-Ray disc or do you burn to an SD DVD or something else i've missed. What about corporate clients, are they requesting HD and Blu-Ray?

Is there any point to shooting HD and then going SD for the final format?

Your thoughts?

If you want to create something that people might still watch in three years, then it makes sense to shoot it in HD.

No kidding, SD is pretty dated stuff, I mean wow. But even 720p is borderline, I love my HVX200s but I want to upgrade when I have the money. Right now it's not possible to justify that expense because doing corporate work, nobody cares, if the final output is the Web why does it matter? It looks great when it's a small YouTube sized Flash video on someone's Website. So oh well.

I try to make sure I can justify the new gadgets I want from a business perspective now. I got way too hung up when I started on just having cool stuff or just because I wanted something I bought it, figuring "ah it's for business," even if it wouldn't help me at all business-wise. It was silly. Now I won't buy anything else unless it's completely essential and I believe that renting it would make less sense.

I was going to buy but thank God I waited (as if I had money just lying around). If I had I would've missed out on JVCs offering which I believe is actually useable with my current 1gig set up simply because it pops out a Quicktime file. I may get the 20 Inch iMac this but I think my next camera will be that one.

The HCM150 looked interesting but the processing power needed for it made me question getting one. Who knows what the future holds. I do want to own at least one camera for films I shoot where I don't star and I do plan to have higher output in the coming months.
