Final Draft 7 Buggy on Apple?

Is anyone else here using Final Draft 7 on a Mac?

It's driving me crazy.
It seems really slow to react - the cursor gets sort of frozen on the document when I try to move it around, so I wind up with 2 or 3 cursors on the screen at once and I can't tell which one is the "real" cursor. I have to scroll down (or up) and then scroll back to get it to clear up.

The same thing happens when I highlight text - basically anytime I do anything that invovles the cursor.

I thought maybe it was some sort of Tiger compatability issue, but my wife has the same problem with Final Draft on her mac, and she's still running Panther.

Anyone else have these issues? Or a solution?
I'm trying to work on a 2nd draft of a script and it's a real hassle when rewriting if you have to wait everytime you move your cursor around. Like I needed another excuse not to get enough writing done :)

Wow, I'm running FD7.1.1 on my PowerBook (Tiger) with no problems. I was concerned about upgrading to FD7 from FD6 because I had heard about it being buggy. But my desire for Tagger was greater. For a while I continued to use FD6 but after a couple of updated to FD7 I decided to try it and have never looked back.

My copy of FD7 was so bad with refreshing the screen, particularly during extended multi-page highlights, that I went back to FD6, and ultimately am strongly considering Movie Magic Screenwriter...

FD 7 wasn't working so well for me either. I switched to celtx. It's free and does everything I needed. Me and my buddy even set up a netware FTP link so we could collaborate online without using celtx's service. Keeps it nice and private. For some reason I just don't like posting my scripts to the celtx server for collaboration. Just paranoid.

I was wishing I could do this very thing. Could you tell me how you went about it? And is it convenient enough that some of the less internet/computer-savvy folks I work with could still handle it?

My buddy was the one who set it up. He's out of town for a few days. When he gets back I'll ask him how he did it, then PM you and tell ya.

Once its set up, it's just like having another hard drive on your computer. Pretty simple.

Yeah, Final Draft has been buggy for me as well. If I hadn't already spent the money, I'd consider switching to Movie Magic Screenwriter.

Movie Magic Screenwriter has treated me pretty well, though it has its own bugs, and a strange hand-made feel... They sell a stripped down version called Hollywood Screenwriter, and you can get it at CompUSA for like $40 or something. It's not a bad place to start.

Celtx is free and you can import Final Draft scripts. In Final draft, Save as "text only with layout" . Then Open New Project and import script into Celtx.

Final Draft 6.x has been OK. Not too buggy.

Yeah, 7 caused me crashing problems. I switched back to 6 and am much happier. But truth be told....I think they should have stopped at 4. 4 was great.

Final Draft is buggy as hell. I reverted back to Version 6. There's nothing new added to Version 7, except bugs and pointless "features". Version 6 is rock-solid.

Hey Guys!
Betagerl here... I'm part of the team that is developing Celtx, and am delighted to see that you're all enjoying the program.

One of the nice things about open source software like Celtx, are the many contributions that others make to it. We think it's great that you have set up your own FTP server to share your celtx projects over the Net.

On the Celtx Forum we actually have a Hacking/Modifying Celtx section where users can share any modifications they have made to the app. So, if you like, please feel free to post instructions for your FTP setup. Either way, we encourage your participation and offer our assistance anytime, should you require it.

We place a great deal of importance in the feedback we get from our user community and apply it to the development of the app whenever it makes sense. So if you have any suggestions / questions, etc. regarding the current (0.9.5.1) or future versions,... bring 'em on!

Cheers!
