Final Cut Tutorials

I just got final cut pro, but ofcoursehave no idea what im doing coming from imovie. Can anyone here recommend some tutorials?

I know of a 7 hour video tutorial on dvd that apple recommends and $99 doesnt seem to bad if it's good. Anyone tried it?

Final Cut Pro 4 and the Art of Filmmaking

Good first steps book for FCP, and one of the only (possibly the only) book that has color illustrations. Comes with DVD full of source material for you to work with.

Re: Final Cut Tutorials

Work your way through the tutorial that came with it first. That will get you started with basics and a few not so basic concepts.

There are LOTS of books on editing in FCP... one of my favorites is Jerry Hofmann's book. It is VERY much like a tutorial in that you work on one short film from start to end.

LOTS of great information there.

Good luck,

Re: Final Cut Tutorials

I think I've seen it advertised; never heard anything about it. That's quite a chunk of change when you could just be old school and buy a book used on Amazon.

Re: Final Cut Tutorials

part of the reason i liked the idea of the dvd is because im severely dyslexic, got my papers and everything. So $99 doesnt sound like to much, unless i heard from hear that someone didnt like it or it wasnt good. regardless i appreciate everyone's suggestions for books they like and such. Keep it coming if u have an oppinion

Re: Final Cut Tutorials

Man, that sucks. I've always suspected I have slight dyslexia because I often rearrange numbers when I read them, but it doesn't impair my reading ability.

I was just looking for info on LiveType, and I think I saw that DVD you mentioned advertised about 5 times. It's at least pretty prolific, which means in can't suck too bad, right? It's probably worth a shot.

This is totally brilliant for learning Final Cut Pro. Its a superb tutorial which lasts about 8 hours and goes over everything. I watched it through and picked up tons of stuff.

If you are new to FCP, the interface looks very daunting when you first see it, but using this tutorial I found the program to be easier than I first imagined.

Highly recommended.
