Final Cut Studio

If you aren't in need of Final Cut Studio at this very moment, I'd hold off on purchasing until April when supposedly a new version of the software package (FCP6) is scheduled to come out.

Damn mine will be here tomorrow...except I need it yesterday...

What are the rumored changes???

Well! you can always send it back... I also ordered my just a week before the current version was released... I needed it right away and now want to sell it because its been sitting in the brand new box since it arrived, but I opened it.

If you want don't need to use the multicamera edit function, I can sell you my copy with its license and all untouched... for really cheap.

Biggest rumored feature of FCP6 and the new Soundtrack Pro is the ability to work/edit with 5.1 sound i guess. We're no longer limited to the stereo setup.

any ideas to when G6 would be coming or what ever those new G5s with intel chips will be known as?

Can't you just pay to upgrade to FCP 6? I'm assuming the new FC will be more expensive than the current version, and it'll be the same amount of money either buying the new one, or buying the current one and upgrading?

Also, I believe NAB (when they will anounce) is at the end of April, so conceivably the new version won't ship until June/July (they usually anounce products a few months before they ship). Just IMO.

They said that they'd be all intel chips by 2007, I believe. However they are way ahead of schedule and I've been hearing that the Powermacs (or whatever they'll be called) will be out by June.

My guess is the first desktop Mac Pro's will be out in June-August (Conroe?), but the really heavy hitters won't roll until Nov/Dec. Intel's dual-core (Woodcrest?) won't even be released until the Fall.

Intel doesn't release the quad-core Clovertown until early 2007. But 2 dual-cores may be possible (to keep up with the current G5 quad)?

So, I was just going to upgrade from FC Production Suite to FC Studio. Then I read that there's going to be a FCP6...do you think I'll be able to upgrade directly from Prodcution Suite to FCP6 or whatever they call it, or will I have to buy it as if from scratch because Production Suite's not the most recent version?
