Final Cut Studio 5.1.1 and Quicktime 7.1.2 problems

Has anyone had any problems using these two together? I just lost 3 days time after FCP went bonkers trying to output to various Quicktime codecs. It took a complete system reinstall to fix the problem (crashing and kerenel panics whenever I tried to output to QT or play QT files, poor output quality, dropped frames and pixelization). I've read on other forums that there may be compatibility issues and that there is a definite sequence of which program gets installed first on your computer. It seems that Cleaner also can't handle the new QT and recommends no later version than 7.0.4. Other FCP users who have not upgraded to 5.1.1 and use an older version of QT report no problems. I have an HVX200 so I need the P2 import function. Why can't Adobe and Apple coordinate application compatibility?

where does Adobe come into this equation? You didn't mention any of their products. You can always run FCP 5.1.1 and QT 7.1.1. Have you tried FCP Rescue yet to trash the prefs?

Not only does Adobe come into the equation, they are the equation from what I'm hearing online. This went WAY beyond trashing the prefs and it seems to be working now. I'd love to try Quicktime 7.1.1 but once you upgrade the old version ios gone for good. Do you know of a reinstall download link for QT 7.1.1?

If you're going from HVX P2 to FCP, Adobe has nothing to do with anything involved. Maybe you mean Panasonic, not Adobe.

I run QT 7.1.2 and FCP 5.1.1 on a Quad Core G5 and have no problems at all.
