Final Cut Pro or Express?

Im wanting to get final cut but right now I only have a Rev. A 12inch powerbook with 256mb ram.I've been eyeing the production suite for $500 (edu) or the $150 final cut express. In june I plan on getting any new powermac that's updated (so i'll get it like 3 months later!).

my powerbook couldnt run motion so that would only be using 2/3's of the production suite for a long while. I also hear there might be an update in final cut in april, so it seems $150 would be better to spend now, then later on in the year, get the production suite.

However, what are the main differences in Final Cut Pro and Express?

You're right!
Apple is releasing a new version of Final Cut Pro in April 2005. This is not just a rumour. I got confirmation on that at a show in Montreal last week after talking with an Apple Head. He wouldn't say on what the update would be though.

My guess is as good as yours.

P.S. Having Motion is way fun and very helpful if you're wanting to improve the quality and raise the bar of your videos. I run it on a powerbook 12 inch, 1.33GHz with 768 MB ram. It's slow but works. FCP runs amazing on it. I'm getting like you a G5 in June and I can't wait.
