Final Cut Pro - is it a good choice?

Hi all,

I am considering buying Final Cut Pro for my video production studio. So far I have seen a lot of positive feedback.

I suppose that many of you have used it as well, can you please also share your feedback and experience?

Best regards,

Welcome to the forum, Kaido.

FCP is versatile, inexpensive and used by many in the industry. I have two minor issues with FCP, however. The life blood of FCP is quicktime. One should never update quicktime or FCP while in the middle of a project. Such upgrades can threaten the very stability of FCP. Also, FCP has a poor implementation of SxS and P2 based footage. While most NLEs will edit sony and panny files natively, FCP requires every file to be rewrapped.

As long as you don't update until you are free and clear to deal with potential problems, FCP works very well. Also, rewrapping files through log and transfer has a silver lining - FCP creates a new self-contained file (a kind of 'backup' if you will).

I have used FCP for years and am a fan of 98% of it. Just wish it was 64-bit.

I have used FCP since version 1.2.5 it is a very good system for the price. Yes, you do have to re-wrap P2 files but I don't find it to be a big issue.
