I was wondering how you would import PAL HD footage into FCP. I have final cut pro HD and the only preset is 720/24 and pal will be 720/25.
Surely Final Cut will support the HVX.
Anyone know anytihng about this?

So does that mean you choose 720/24 as your preset.

It depends what you shot in... The timeline should match your shooting format.

For the HVX this could be (considering PAL & NTSC models):

DV25 in 25fps PAL, 30fps NTSC
DVCPRO25 " "
DVCPRO50 " "

DVCPROHD:
720p/24, 720p25, 720p3o, 720p60
1080i 50 or 60. Inside this stream a 24/25/30p stream is carried.

There will also be other frame rates available in 720p (12, 22, 48..???) but footage at these frame rates would be added to a 720p 24/24/30 to achieve slow-mo of timelapse.

oh..and don't forget the anamorphic (16:9) setting may be needed when shooting in the SD modes.

Yep FCP has supported the DVCPROHD and DVCPRO50 formats for over a year now and FCP 5 has direct import from P2 support. If you get FCP 5 you'll be totally set for the HVX.

Noah, have you heard whether Apple have sorted their little P2 issues yet? Can Apples now detect and read from P2 yet? Last I heard, they were still working on it...
