Hey guys,

Anyone ever used this

with Final Cut Pro? Can this device be used to connect a field monitor so that final cut pro will display only the timeline video footage?

Last, I was curious, if it is possible to display the video footage from the timeline (like how the camera shows on the lcd when connected through firewire the footage on the timeline) , is it possible to show 720p, or is the footages quality irelevent? Typically at my school they has used the field monitors through a deck and edit dv, which showed great. I was not sure if it mattered if the footage was dv or 720p, it should still show on it.

Any insight into this would be great, I am so happy that there are so many great minds to help the community.

THis device is DV only. For 720P DVCPRO HD and especially HDV (HDv cannot be routed thru a camera like DV can) you'll need the Matrox MXO. $999, but you can use it in conjunction with an Apple 23" display and get broadcast quality color correction capability.

So i would not be able to use the camera as the conversion device to connect the monitor through to the camera? Or does the camera do what in essence the matrox mxo does?

IT sounds like there is no alternative or something cheaper? $999 seems a little steep to convert firewire to rca with final cut pro.

Would this work?

It says it does hd 720 60p to sd down conversion? I have a mac pro so I have the pci slot and the processing power.

I mind you, that my monitor is sd, not hd, which is why I am looking for to stick with something lowend until my funds allow me a better monitor.
