i'm new to the dvx and final cut pro. i have a big shoot this saturday and i want to film in 24p. does anyone have any suggestions on how to set up my sequence in final cut pro in order to best work with 24p? or would it be easier to just shoot in 60i or 30i? i want to get the best picture possible, but don't want to run into problems when i start editing and realize all my footage is worthless. thanks!

I just pulled out my FCP manual to try and find the answer to this because I don't remember off the top of my head, I'm not that great at editing but I am curious as for the answer to this as well. I'll ask some buddies tomorrow but hopefully someone else can help us out before then

Set your DVX to 24P advanced, and import it using the 2:3:3:2 pulldown setting. There's an "easy setup" preset in Final Cut that you can use, called "DV-NTSC 24p (23.98) Advanced Pulldown". It'll set everything up for you, including the sequences. You'll end up with a 24fps timeline, and you burn a 23.98fps DVD with it. Good luck!

i just wanted to add or clarify that last reply, u want to choose the 24p advanced 2.3.3.2 pulldown Removale setting. thats the only way u can edit it and see it right, otherwise when ur editing ur gonna see little lines comin off the edge of everything in the image.

now i havent got all the way to burning to dvd yet,(im new too)but i believe that b4 u burn to dvd u gotta add the advanced 2.3.3.2 pulldown back, then burn it to dvd. hopefully some1 else can post and clarify that 4 u and me.
