Final Cut Pro 6 to be seen at NAB?

I've decided to invest in a Macbook Pro and have a little time before I buy. I was wondering if you have heard anything about Apple updating their existing line before the end of the year ?

The Macbook Pro's should be updated in the May/June timeframe. Intel announced that their next chipset will begin shipping in the next 2 months or so. This translates into an update for at least the iMac and Macbook Pro when it comes out. I would say the announcement will be no late than Apple's WWDC conference on June 11th.

MacRumors and ThinkSecret were wrong a year ago, and blame Apple for their bad reporting. No Extreme, 6 is on schedule, not a year late, Mac Rumors and Think Secret need to grow up. They've been wrong about the majority of thier predictions for over a year now.

So, am I reading correctly that this Sunday (4/15) we will know what the new version of FCP will do?

I want to edit 1080p24 that will come from a sony hvr-v1u which i don't believe is currently supported (correct?...anybody?)

Also, if FCP doesn't work out (or even if it does) is there an alternative NLE system that I should be looking at?

Finally, does the sony hvr-v1u make sense (true progressive?) versus sony hvr-a1 (cineframe) or canon xh-a1? other ideas?

Thx, bob

No, we're GUESSING that we'll hear about a new FCP on Sunday. But there's been no confirmation from Apple that they'll even have a new version of FCP. Nobody knows what Apple plans to discuss at that event. We're just all guessing and hoping that it'll be a new FCP.

Apple does like to drop hints now and then, especially with their invitations... The invite for their NAB event has the tagline "Lights, Camera, Apple" and the background image is the same graphic as the Final Cut Studio Box.

From this, many of us assume that there will be a Final Cut related announcement on the 15th.

well I'm hoping fcp6 won't be dependant on leopard, since it's been delayed until october. Also I hope the 128meg x1600 in my macbook pro will be up to the task of the fcs3.
