Unfortunately 10.4.9 broke compatibility with FX9 XAVC-I .MXF files for me (system wide apparently, including Compressor and QuickTime). Stuff opens up in Catalyst Browse, but kind of a bummer with all the other cool updates. Rolled back to 10.4.8.
Cool! Wonder if BRAW will ever receive support, but I doubt it.
Resolve fully supports it, obviously, it's basically free, multi platform, much more powerful and it will only get better. So what's the point?
I used to swear by FCP back in the FCP 7 days. I had Final Cut Studio. I was one of the people who left FCP when FCP X came out. I hated everything about it and couldn't shake off the iMovie Pro feeling. Just didn't like that Apple was basically trying to change the whole professional editing paradigm. I never looked back.
And now with Resolve being what it is I see even less reason. I have not looked at FCP X in years. But I doubt it lost the iMovie Pro vibe. And again, Resolve runs on a Mac and it's only getting better. Eventually I see Apple just dropping FCP X because it will be hard to compete with Blackmagic.

FCP X is faster than Resolve.
I edited for years on FCPX and loved it. I’ll echo that it is one I’d the fastest editing systems to use (At least for me.) I think it’s due to efficiencies in how you interact with the interface. There are very few wasted clicks. However, as my company ramped up to producing hundreds of videos a year, I found that Resolve is significantly better with managing the assets for all our projects. FCPX far too often duplicates footage on the back-end with its re-wrapped files and pointers, which inflates our storage needs, and the databases can get confusing as to what is real footage and what is an alias - biting us in the ass later when we want to restore an archive version or pull an asset for another project. Also the ability Resolve to send a simple 3mb .drp between remote editors or systems is huge.
