Final Cut Express 2.0 and 24p?

Any thoughts on the following? I have a deadline in a week for a "sample" of a doc I'm working on, it just needs to be 10 minutes and it doesnt have to be polished and hollywood. Now I know nothing about editing. So I started in imovie hd, and eventhough it doesn't "recognize" 24p, it looks fine to me, or at least good enough for what i need; however there is a major flaw: Sound from channel 1: left speaker. Channel 2: right speaker. So I hunted down a copy of FC Express 2.0 hoping it will be easier to grasp in one week then FCP 5, and my question is this: It'ls all shot in 24p Scene 5, in squeeze. So do I select anamorphic at the beginning menu, and is there somethign I should do to make the 24p footage look good enough? (Should I just let it capture thinking it's 60i)? As long as there aren't skips or audio sync problems, it should be fine, is this a concern? Any suggestions appreciated!

Yes, Express sees 24P (NOT 24PA) as just plain ol video. The footage looks fine. Don't worry. I have had audio blips using the 24P Advanced setting, and Final Cut Express.

Gotta wonder if it's possible to use the Standards Conversion plug-in to convert 24PA to 24P and cut anything in FCExpress...
