Final Cut Clip Problem

We just switched over to Final Cut 5.1.1 and are experiencing some wierd effects. While watching footage from the timeline, what appears in the monitor is not the clip that is in the timeline. it appears that the monitor is skipping over one of our clips and playing on the monitor what appears to be footage that is about seven seconds later.

The reason I mentioned the update to 5.1.1 is that along with moving to a macpro are the only changes we've made in the last week and now we have this problem.

Any thoughts?

We had been editing on FCP 5 on some older g5 towers, then bought two new macpros and needed to install 5.1.1 on them, and we upgraded the projects into that, but the version of the program that was originally installed on the macpro's was 5.1.1.

hmm, interesting...i was banking on it being a problem during an upgrade. Try deleting the prefs folder yet?

This probably isn't what is going on with your project, but it could result in what you describe, so I will mention it for what it is worth. It might be possible to get the situation you describe if you had "ganging" between a clip and the timeline turned on and you were inadvertently looking at the clip (perhaps because it was expanded and covered other windows) while playing the timeline.
