Final Cut 6.0 question

While importing video recorded at 30fps and 60fps, FCP does not recognize the higher frame rate calling it "unknown file.' However, Quicktime will easily playback either file. Is there a setting that would fix this, or does it require a higher version?

What format of video? From what camera? How was that higher frame rate made into a file? What format of file?

Details. We can't help without details.

1280x720 29.97 fps H.264 codec .mov
1280x720 59.94 fps H.264 codec .mov both play well on quicktime

Consumer home camera, don't know the make. $173. but the pictures look great.

The lower fps import and play no problem, but the 60fps registers as an unknown file.

H.264 aren't editing codecs. You need to convert them to ProRes or Apple Intermediate Codec in order to edit them properly. Thing listed in the FCP EASY SETUP menu.

I'll wager they came from a FLIP HD camera.

Your right flip kodak.
The lower rate H.264 edits just fine...will try and convert to something else. However, I can't import the file to make any changes. Perhaps compressor will allow conversion.

Thanks Shane, tried your suggestion and Apple Pro Rez worked fine, but the file is HUGE. I will try to convert to something else.
