Filters with Anamorphic Lens?

is there any way to use filters with the anamorphic lens? can you put them between the adapter and the fixed lens?

it would be a shame if you couldn't, since the only way to really shoot good widescreen coverage (that is, without considerable resolution loss) is with the anamorphic lens.

No filters without an addition of a big matte box (and that has its problems also).
So what filters were you interested in using?

well, a couple of ND filters would be good so that i can keep the aperature wide open (for shallow DOF) and still control light. also, polarizing filters would be really nice for shots. especially desert shots where you have great skies.

I have heard you can shave down the corners of the lens and fit 4x4's in there. Barry Greene would know more or someone who has done it. Personally I havent and havent seen it.

Problem with that is, if you're using the anamorphic adapter, you can't keep the aperture open beyond a certain point or your shots will go out of focus. Normally with the anamorphic you're fighting to get the iris as small as possible (or go as wide-angle as possible) in order to keep the two focal planes within the range of DOF.

When using the anamorphic, deep DOF is your friend. Shallow DOF can lead to out-of-focus shots because of the way the anamorphic works.
