Filters - Please Help

I want to get some filters so I can protect the lens, and I'd also like to have a polarized filter.

TIFFEN 72DVVEK
72mm Video Essentials DV Filter Kit - Clear / Circular Polarizer / Warm UV-17 - Carrying Case

are these good filters? Do they just screw in to the DVX or do I need another piece of equipment to use them?

Or should I get the Cinetactics MatteBlox Mattebox instead?

Thank you so much for any help with this

Re: Filters - Please Help

I just ordered the the teffen filters. thanks anyway, that looks useful, i might check it out.

Re: Filters - Please Help

Yes I must agree. Has anyone bought this? Im interested to see what blacknets look like on the DVX.

Re: Filters - Please Help

Those Tiffen Filters are not multi-coated, so make sure you take care in avoiding light flares when you are shooting.

Re: Filters - Please Help

i figured that, i read another thread here that said that it was really hard to find multi coated filters

thanks ;D

Re: Filters - Please Help

tiffen doesnt make multicoated filters.. well they do but your right good luck finding it. All the other munafcturers do though, like Hoya and B+H. No biggee.. its not the end of the world.

Re: Filters - Please Help

i got the filters, they seem to work great but i wish i could keep them on there when i put the lens cap on. is there another lens cap you can get for the panasonic that will allow you to keep the filters on?

Re: Filters - Please Help

i recomend you buying a metal screw in lens cap.. its not as quick but doesnt fall off, and is ALMOST bullet proof

Re: Filters - Please Help

do you have a direct link to a good one? i see so many on there and im not sure which one to choose. thanks so much :)

Re: Filters - Please Help

Jarred's advice is very good, as always... ;) However, the plastic cap from Panny clips on just fine, even with Tiffen filters on.

Re: Filters - Please Help

unless im doing something wrong, no the plastic panasonic cap will not go on with the tiffen filters screwed in

Re: Filters - Please Help

ive got some 72 mm tiffen filters, and the pani cap goes on fine. my filter has outer filter threads though. if you cant stack those filters. its got no threads to grab onto. and if you can, and the cap doesnt work, the threads are either too fine, or shallow. any local good camera store should have a variety of 72mm caps though.

Re: Filters - Please Help

well put loser. yeah with my tiffen filters on the cap fits as well. just take a look at the ones you bought and see if they are threaded and have a bit of a lip at the end, if so you should be able to fit the lens cap on.

Re: Filters - Please Help

Ok I figured it out. My clear filter and UV filter have threads that will let me up the panasonic cap on. The polarized filter does not.
