Filter/motion/viewier fiasco...

I know the answer will make me feel stupid, but thats alright as I just got into FCP a day ago.

well, I could have a clip in the viewer (before it's in the sequence timeline) and then "view clip in separate window", then go forth with my color correction / filters or whatnot.

But all the sudden, just a minute ago, I can no longer view the clips in a new window. Nor double click to make it appear in a second window...

what can I do so I can see a clip in the viewer and a second window before putting it in the sequence/canvas ?

thank you

Not sure that is your best workflow.

I'd drop the clip into the timeline and dbl click it back to the viewer to add CC.

You really shouldn't EVER start to fool with a clip until you drop it in the Timeline.

Apple Pro Training Series; Final Cut Pro 5

It's very worth getting and doing. Quickest way to get you up and running the right way. I STRONGLY recommed you get this book right away. That is if you don't already have it.

thanks guys, and I just ordered the apple book from amazon.ca.

That should help. :)

Remember this concept, in your Browser are you Master clips. When you add it to a Sequence that is opened in the Timeline window, or in FCP slang, "drop it in the Timeline", you create a copy of it. Then you have to open that copy in the Timeline window, back into the Veiwer window. Cause what's in the Viewer window is the Browser copy, or Master clip, and nothing you to to that will effect the copy in the Timeline window. And nothing you do to the copy in the Timeline window will have any effect on the Master cllip copy in the Browser.

Hope this helps and wasn't overly remedial...
