Films you want to see on the big screen, but can't!

mmm

Veteran
The Psycho discussion got me thinking... there are several films that I would love to see on a BIG screen with a full (well-mannered) house, but have never had the chance:

• 2001
• All Monty Pythons
• Psycho
• Silence of the Lambs
• Singing in the Rain
• Cinema Paradiso (only saw a 16 mm copy, which isn't big enough)

I could go on and on, but what are everyone else's ideas??

My school screened Silence of the Lambs, Singing in the Rain, and Life of Brian in 35mm for our film series last year. I missed Life of Brian, but the other two were awesome. Jonathan Demme gave a Q+A after Silence of the Lambs, and he must be one of the coolest people I've ever met.

I'd like to see more 70mm films, though.

I remember reading something about a thatrical re-release of Life of Brian about a year ago, but nothing since... any info out there?

Ive acually seen Silence of the Lambs, and Singing in the Rain(teknacolor) in theater. Silence of the Lambs was playing Sept 2004 in a theater in NYC(chelsea area) and the Singing in the Rain I saw in a 60 person mini-theater at SVA on E23rd in NYC. I also so La Cinema Paridiso in a mini theater, but I believe it was a DVD copy that was displayed on a large RGB digital projector(not really the same as the big screen)

lawrence of arabia. really want to see it on a big screen, and apocalypse now, which ive heard in 5.1 is incredible.

Bragging again: saw Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm. (The print was screwy, though, but unbelievably gorgeous when it was working.)

Good call on Apocalypse Now.

Yeah, I saw the restored version in 70mm, it was freakin' awesome. I saw 2001 in 70mm when I was a kid, but it would be the one I'd love to see again.

Another one is Michael Radford's version of Owells' 1984. I love the look of the film and am a big fan of Roger Deakins, the DP. I would love to see a good print of it.

One of my big screen nightmares involve Barry Lyndon at the Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor Michigan. I saw the flick when I was a kid, and when they were gonna show it, I was there with bells on. OH MY GOD!!! It was one of the worst faded prints I have ever seen. All the British soldiers red coats were pink coats!!! I could not watch it. Luckily, the balcony was open and my girlfrend and I.... well lets just say it was not a totally wasted night....
