Films with characters who aren't really there?

Hi guys,

I've just signed on to shoot my first feature, and it has a schizophrenic twist. I'm wondering if people can recommend me films with similar twists to study for visual tricks and ques.

The obvious ones that I'll be looking at are: A Beautiful Mind, Fight Club, and Sixth Sense

If anyone has other suggestions, tips or recommendations they'd be much appreciated.

Cheers

Consider researching the experiences of real people who have experienced schizophrenia. You may find inspiration for some new devices that haven't been employed before.

I'm of the opinion that the lead character in Black Swan is a schizophrenic, although it's never implicitly stated in the movie. Donnie Darko is another.

Based solely upon a wikipedia-grade understanding of the diagnosis, Nina in Black Swan impresses me as untreated schizophrenic up one side, and down the other.

For some reason I didn't get that sense of Donnie in Donnie Darko.

There's a really crazy/intense theory that in Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Ferris is just a figment of Cameron's imagination.

Probably not helpful, but it's all I could think of aside from what others have said haha.

Look at Ingmar Bergman's "Persona" -- while not strictly a film dealing with schizophrenia, there's a great deal of discussion about whether or not one of the main characters actually exists or if she only exists in the mind of the other main character.

Thanks fellas! I'll look into all of these. If any other suggestions come to mind I'd love to hear them.
