Filmmaker credentials

hey everyone.

Does anyone have any suggestions for obtaining some sort of official (or pseudo official) credentials that establish you are in fact a professional filmmaker or production company?

I have to travel extensively in the coming months, some out of the country, and I'm going to be flying with equipment. One thing I read is that having credentials will help the airline and TSA folks establish you're okay to be travelling with all this gear. I have business licenses, etc. But nothing like a journalist would have (press credentials) or someone else.

Is there a body or organization I can obtain credentials from? Can I get official DVXuser credentials? :)

Any help is much appreciated. THANKS

Local police agencies typically credential legitimate news media. In Los Angeles, there's Sheriff's media passes, and CHP used to issue some too. But the REAL DEAL in L.A. is the LAPD media pass. They're VERY hard to get if you don't actually shoot for local news. I would do whatever I could to qualify for your local agenices' credentials. Make a friend. Work for news for free. Real press credentials always seem to work wonders.

I think there's a national press association you could join and get their less-credible credential (since anyone can get one for the price of the membership fee). It's something, at least.
