Hello, Im shooting a movie with a romantic scene with a girl skating on a rink.
Im looking for a tip in post or live to shoot so that we can see the skates seeing
trought the ice like filming her from the bottom. Is the a tip to aheive this effect.
Humm thats a clue. And I would like to know how to avoid these blue lines that when im shooting dvx100-a when pointing some sources of lights its like a blue bar that i can see on the screen. i dunno why sometimes there no lines and sometimes i cant get rid of them. Thanks

If this is low budget, you probably can't afford the under ice shot.

sounds like the blue line thing is a result of you mixing light. If you are shooting indoors and outdoor light is coming in from windows or doors, then your interior lights needs to be balanced to daylight or blue gelled. and you cam white balanced to daylight.

blue lines

blue lines

im filming outside at night an even with no light added
i still got blue lines on certain angle up the image mostly
its like filming car lights an even i put lights to corect i still got those
anoying blue lines maybe its because it is streets lights
but i have the same effect inside when filming under
kitchen lights or pointing trought them

yes its low budget but filming under ice as the ring is directly
on the groud its like impossible
i donnu how i ca get this effect from filming under
maybe with reflection i dunno any sugestions

Part of the problem with the lines could be flaring from the light source, part of the problem might be your shutter angle. When you use a high shutter, bright light sources tend to smear on your image, and it can increase the effect of flares. If you desperately need to shoot directly at light sources, but you do not like the look of flares, you can try using a ProMist or a Black ProMist filter. The ProMist will make the flare turn into a soft orb shape, instead of a huge flare. I hope this helps.

As for the under the ice shot.....maybe you could cheat it. Get a block of ice from somewhere near you. Here we have an actual ice company that provides ice to different businesses....also if you're near a college, there's gotta be somewhere to get an ice luge:) I would think you'd need it no more than an inch thick. Tip it on it's side, shoot at one side, and run a skate over the other with your hand. I'd love to see how that looks.
