Filming live production at a school.

I am very new to this and am trying to help out a colleague,

We have a new Auditorium at our school and it has been setup with a Sound Room and a Video room with camera and points all around for live broadcasting.

The equipment we have is:

3 x Panasonic HPX 170
1 x Panasonic Vision Mixer
1 x Audio Mixer
! x MacPro with FCP7 and Black Magic Studio capture card.

What we have tested and are hoping to do is the following.

Have all 3 camera’s in action and all feeding to the Vision Mixer over SDI.
Run separate audio into an audio mixer ( I understand the vision mixer will strip the audio from the SDI link )?

Our plan is to output the vision from the Mixer to the Mac Pro into FCP7 and capture it via the SDI input on the black magic card. We also would like to capture the Audio to the same black magic card via the analog audio inputs.

At the end of the production if everything runs well we are hoping to check audio and video sync and if all is well convert to a DVD and burn the finished product.

Sorry if this sounds completely wrong or silly but I am an IT guy with 0 experience with Filming.

So if anyone has some advice on if this will or wont work or if there is much better options it would be greatly appreciated. We are a small school with a small budget so we are limited to the equipment we can use.

Thanks very much.
