Filming in Wales

I'm going off to Wales to see my grandparents for 2-3 weeks in late June/early July. I don't have have any good footage of the area. I'm staying with my grandparents, who have 35 acres of land and a large historic house near Brecon, so I'd like to get some images of their property, as well as the surrounding area, and Brecon.
So my question is, what is the best way to document a trip like that? What should I film first? Anything I might as well stay away from? Sorry if I'm being vague... hopefully my point has been made, and the question stated.

I think a mix of interviews with footage of the area related to that, I'm sure they have some stories about somewhere in all of those acres.

Agreed....I shot a little "documentary" about my home and family for my fiancee (who lives in another country) a year or so ago, and it was a lot of fun, and more interesting than just having a bunch of panning shots of the scenery. So I'd suggest getting those shots, but also doing some interviews, ask them to tell you about the surrounding area, and maybe go out there with you and talk about it while they show you (if you have wireless mics for that). That makes the footage much more interesting and will give you something more concrete to edit around than just "what looks nice".

I would try to pick an issue, like " what's going on in this area" or "how has this area changed since my grandparents have been alive" and try to shoot and interview based around that. Although it all depends who this project is for, of course...

I would start with stock footage of all the usual places, Tinturn Abbey, Why River Etc. Then work on documenting your surroundings. That ought to fill up a few cards of video and get you started.
